Carla Farris, PMHNP-C, FNP-C, PNP, Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner

When meeting with my clients my goal is to create a safe, compassionate, collaborative environment. I also want to develop a trusting and therapeutic relationship by completing a thorough psychiatric evaluation in a non-judgmental, caring place. I want to provide client centered care and treatments based on evidence-based guideline by diagnosing according to the latest edition of the DSM and listening to the clients concerns and symptoms. I effectively manage client symptoms by initiating, adjusting, and monitoring medications. I think it's important to improve client's self-awareness and knowledge regarding mental health illnesses and medications by educating on the proper use, drug interactions, and adverse drug reactions of medications and the course and prognosis of mental illnesses.
I am a strong advocate for mental health care. I believe when we arm our clients with knowledge they have a much better chance for a healthy, successful future. As Maya Angelou said "Do the best you can until you know better. Then when you know better do better."
